Abstract

Genes store life data and information in genetic language. In accordance with the Central Dogma, life data are located in DNA sequences in the format of genes and the information is transcribed into transient molecules of RNA and finally the coding RNAs are translated into proteins. But the role of RNAs is pivotal. In other words, gene regulation (including expression or suppression) is an amazing and vital process that is composed of two central networks; DNAs and RNAs. Today, the principal and fundamental role of RNA molecules is revealed and it is known that the regulation of genes is directly controlled by DNA and RNA molecules. The diversity of RNAs in different cells and in particular Eukaryotic cells explains the importance of RNAs in gene regulation.

Abstract

DNA is the most important biomolecule ever discovered. Indeed, this molecule bears genetic information from one generation to another. In this regard, DNA bases have a key role in transferring genetic information and data safely. However, there are cellular, genetic, and environmental factors that may damage the different parts of DNA molecules. These damages may result in mutations and cell death. As such, several DNA repair mechanisms have evolved. Over three sections, this book examines many of these mechanisms.

Abstract

The human immune system is a complicated biological network that employs a collection of cells, molecules, and proteins. Cytokines play an important role in regulating the innate and adaptive immune systems by different receptors and signaling pathways. As such, they are also implicated in the occurrence of different disorders and diseases. This book presents a comprehensive overview of immunology, the immune system, and cytokines. Chapters cover such topics as the role and importance of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in the human body, the association of cytokines with different disorders and diseases, and the role of cytokines in dentistry.

Abstract

The immune system recruits a wide range of molecule groups and categories, each of which has its own function, property, and structure. Among these, interleukins play a pivotal role in supporting the immune and non-immune systems of the human body. Interleukins as effective cytokines participate in different conditions such as homeostasis, infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases, and cancers. This unique property of interleukins makes them invaluable biomarkers that can be used as important biosensors. This book is divided into three sections: "Interleukins' Classification and Evolutionary Features", "Autoimmune Diseases and Low Immune System", and "Cancer and Injuries". Chapters examine the role of various interleukins in conditions such as leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, and allergic and autoimmune diseases.
